This past year has truly been the best year of my life. I had some amazing opportunities, met a ton of new people, and improved my overall health and happiness. I owe most of this to cycling. Cycling has become the most important thing in my life and consumes my work life, home life, and recreation. At the beginning of 2012, I set two goals for myself for the year: Ride 10,000 miles and drop 40 pounds. I am happy to say that I can check both goals off.
This was also my first year racing, both road and cyclocross, and I have to say, it went better than I thought it would. While I might not have been winning races left and right, I always finished, I never finished last, and I always had fun. I was lucky to have had the support of a brand like Foundry Cycles to help me out as I entered the world of racing. Without their support and their bikes, my year would have been much more difficult.
I know that 2013 will be just as good of a year, if not better. My mileage goal for the year has been upped to 12,500 miles. This will definitely be a challenge, but it’s one that I am more than ready to take on. I am beyond excited for what 2013 has in store for me. See you on the road! Continue reading
